Great Basin College is proud to announce that its Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) honor society has earned a prestigious spot among the Top 100 chapters worldwide. This distinction was presented at the "Chart Your Course" International PTK Conference held recently in Baltimore, Maryland, where GBC stood out as the only Nevada chapter to receive this recognition among 1,200 chapters.

This international ranking underscores GBC’s commitment to academic excellence, placing its students in the top 8% of chapters globally.  This distinction also validates that rural Nevada students are performing at an elite level, competing successfully against the largest institutions in the nation. For the student leaders involved, this recognition provides a powerful global credential for future scholarship and career opportunities.

The GBC delegation, represented by the Beta Beta Epsilon chapter, consisted of seven student leaders who represented the college with exceptional professionalism. Throughout the conference, the chapter consistently reached the leaderboard in several critical categories, including the "Live Student Orientation" College Project and the "Why We Tell Stories" Honors in Action Research Project.

The chapter also received high marks for its Outstanding Officer Team, Outstanding Chapter President, and Outstanding Dean. The culmination of these scores placed Great Basin College on the international JumboTron as a Top 100 chapter, a significant milestone as GBC was one of only two colleges in the entire Nevada/California region to achieve this ranking.

Beyond the rankings, the GBC delegates presented a student-led forum titled "The Power of Positivity" to an audience of international peers. The presentation was noted for being polished and engaging, contributing significantly to the chapter's high standing and overall impact at the event.
